Robert (“Rob”) McArthur

SENIOR FINANCE & OPERATIONS CONSULTANT

Rob’s career spans both corporate leadership and independent schools, offering a unique blend of experience in operational and financial management. After beginning his professional journey in the high-tech sector at IBM, Apple, and several electronics distribution firms, where he specialized in finance, planning, manufacturing, and distribution operations, Rob transitioned into the independent school world. He spent over two decades as a Chief Financial and Operating Officer at day and boarding schools of varying sizes, from 325 to 1,550 students. His tenure included roles at St. Paul’s School in Baltimore, Carolina Day School, Asheville School, and Charlotte Latin School, with his responsibilities often extending beyond financial operations to include facilities, technology, human resources, athletics, and more.

Rob also stepped in as acting Head of School twice during leadership transitions, demonstrating his versatility and depth of expertise. Throughout his independent school career, he led initiatives such as market-based tuition strategies, endowment management, and long-term financial modeling, while also overseeing construction projects and operational efficiencies. Additionally, his six years on the MISBO Board further cemented his commitment to advancing independent school business practices. His combined corporate and school-based experience positions him as a resource for tackling operational challenges and developing financial strategies tailored to school environments.
